Youth Program.

​​​​TRAIN 4 WORK   |      Employment Bootcamp for youth – Employment readiness training.

The Train4Work program is an 11-week employment program consisting of classroom education and work experience through job practicum. The program is focused to serve a total of 60 Manitoba youth per year. The participants will range in ages from 15 - 29 years who are experiencing difficulty obtaining long-term employment due to one or a combination of the following; limited education, personal barriers and/or social environment.
The Train4Work program will offer job survival skills for today’s workforce. The participants will build skills to enhance soft skills, understand today’s workplace environments and most importantly, teach/develop behaviors that are essential to “job survival”.
Prior to acceptance the participant will be part of a selection/interview process to assess the individuals’ needs, capacity and commitment to successful completion of the program.

Weeks 1 – 3   |   In Class Skill Enhancement

The Train4Work curriculum provides a comprehensive modern-day approach to youth skill development for the purpose of enhancing employability. Daily workshops facilitated by industry and human resources professionals in the first three weeks of the program will expose participants to the skills, attitudes, behaviours as well as personal development initiatives necessary to be effective employees in today’s work environments. In- class workshops are influenced by cultural diversity, overcoming detrimental personal behaviours and habits as well as elevated employability skills.

Classes are Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with a 1-hour break for lunch, or in the evening from 5 pm – 9 pm with a 30 minute break.

Weeks 4 – 6   |   Realistic Employment Preview

The following 3 weeks participants will engage in a paid work practicum with one of our Host Employers. Participants are encouraged to choose a Host Employer that matches their career goals as the purpose of the practicum is to develop specialized skills and gain employment. Participants will have to qualify for placement by way of an interview by the perspective employer.

Week 7   |   Additional Certification, Training and Check In

Upon completion of the 3-week work practicum participants will return to the classroom for a period of 1 week. There will be a review of their experience and further skills training as required. Participants will also receive additional certifications such as WHMIS, First Aid, NCI, Food Handlers, Serve it Safe. This week will also explore any issues, concerns with placements, engage in scenario/experienced based role plays and discussions as well as a discussion about industry selection. 

Weeks 8, 9, 10, 11   |   Employment Readiness

During the last 4 weeks of the program, participants will enter into the full/part-time practicum portion of the program utilizing their training from previous weeks to work as a full time or part time employee. Participants will be job shadowed by an industry mentor and will also be monitored by a Career Support Specialist on a weekly basis.

This Employment readiness stage is the participants time to shine.  :) 

Next Steps

Upon completion of the final 4 weeks, participants will transition to full or part time employment with the Host Company and graduate from the program. Should the participant be unsuccessful in obtaining full/part time employment, they will return to the program for an additional 2 weeks for job search and work directly with HRMATTERS! Inc.
